Trend Micro has discovered a new banking trojan called EMOTET. It differs from the most widespread ZeuS and its clones by not using the technique of inserting own form fields into the internet banking webpages. Instead, EMOTET hooks into network APIs allowing it to sniff even encrypted traffic using HTTPS protocol. Another interesting feature of EMOTET is storing its files and stolen data in Windows registry safeguarding them from anti-virus programs scanning files.
