Researchers from University of Massachusetts have demonstrated ability to read four digit password typed by a user of iPad or similar device on the screen. They used just a camera built in the Google Glass, Samsung’s smartwatch or iPhone. All of those devices were able to capture the passcode in the distance of 3 meters with more than 80% reliability. With the use of a HD camera, they were able to capture the code in the distance more of 45 meters. All that without directly seeing the screen of the device using algorithm capable of mapping the position of real device and user’s fingers to the reference model.
