Kaspersky Labs have informed that they uncovered a command and control server of a previously unknown cyber crime group in January this year. The server was in operation for at least a week during which time the cyber crooks managed to siphon more than 500,000 € from Italian and Turkish clients of one bank. Although the malware itself has not been uncovered Kaspersky Labs believe that it was a trojan using web inject similar to the ZeuS type banking trojans. Kaspersky Labs also notes the layered approach of cyber criminals to the money mules signalling risk management practices in regard to different levels of trust to them.
