The police in Macao has arrested two Ukrainians who were attempting to steal credit card data from local ATMs. The thieves did not place any physical ATM skimmers nor did they temper with the inside of the ATM. They simply inserted a circuit board device connected to a laptop into the card slot and infected the ATM with malware. They only had to coma back few days later to collect the stolen card details and PINs. This type of attack is particuralry dangerous because the customer has no way to discover that the ATM has been tempered with nor the attacker to access the inside of the ATM.
