InterlCrawler has discovered a mobile botnet that was capable to intercept more than 27000 SMS messages between April 2013 and February 2014. The botnet consisted of Android devices infected with malware disguised as code generator for two-way authentication used by Middle-Eastern banks. The malware is able to intercept codes used for two-factor authentication and other SMS messages. The botnet could be operated by a simple operating panel that also allowed creation of custom malware apps mimicking mobile banking apps of Middle-Eastern banks.
