Cyber espionage campaigns using zero-day exploits

FireEye has discovered two cyber espionage campaigns using zero-day exploits of Flash player and Internet Explorer. The first one, named Operation GreedyWonk used websites of several non-governmental organizations dealing with international relations and security to spread the RAT malware. The second one used the webpage of U.S. Veterans of Foreign Wars. FireEye believes that the perpetrators of the campaigns are the same as in the case of previously discovered cyber espionage campaigns (Operation DeputyDog and Operation Ephemeral Hydra) and the operation reported by ShadowServer in May 2012. Both Microsoft and Adobe have released patches for the affected software.
