Author of SpyEye malware plads guilty

Aleksandr Panin alleged author of the SpyEye malware pleaded guilty to the charges of bank fraud at the court in Atlanta, USA. He is facing up to 30 years in jail. Panin has been extradited to the U.S from Dominican Republic in Summer last year.

SpyEye was one of the most widespread malware types aimed at gathering confidential banking data of users (together with ZeuS). However, it gradually ceased operations after the successful takedown action of Microsoft in March 2012.
