The presentation of the NSA from 2010 revealing the mechanisms of gathering data from mobile applications seems to be badly redacted. New York Times published the document with three blackened spots. Popular cryptography server Cryptome.org revealed that it is possible to disclose the blackened info by simply copy-pasting the covered parts. The information reveal the name of the NSA employee who is the author of the presentation, name of a terrorist organization that was target of one of the NSA’s operations and the list of filetypes of images that the NSA is able to extract information from. New York Times has in the meantime replaced the original document with a proper redacted version but the previous one is still available at the webpage Cryptome.org. However due to unavailability of the original version it is not possible to confirm its authenticity.
