Guardian has published slides from GCHQ presentation describing program DISHFIRE of the NSA. DISHFIRE is aimed at collection and analysis of data from text messages sent all around the word. The document reveals that NSA gathered almost 200 million text messages a day as of April 2011. Furthermore, it was able to extract data such as border crossings (from roaming alert messages), missed calls announcements, data from electronic business cards and financial transactions. The document does not clearly state whether the collected messages were only from foreign users or included also messages sent by Americans as was the case with mobile phone metadata.
