German Spiegel has published another documents leaked by Edward Snowden revealing practices of the NSA. The documents describe the activities of two NSA units Access Network Technology (ANT) and Tailored Access Operations (TAO). While ANT focuses on exploiting vulnerabilities in hardware and software, the TAO uses such exploits to target particular users as was shown in the Belgacom hack. Spiegel reports that the NSA managed among others to wiretap undersea cable between Europe, northern Africa and Asia. The NSA is also capable to re-route deliveries of electronic equipment ordered online and infest it with malware. NSA is also reportedly able to intercept automatic Windows error reporting messages and use them for tailored attacks.
