Brian Krebs informs on one of the largest credit card data thefts in history. Reportedly, data from magnetic stripes of around 1,000,000 credit cards were compromised between 28th November and 6th December 2013 although the time window of the theft may be even larger. The cards belong to customers of Target retail stores, the second largest retail store chain in USA. The online customers of Target do not seem to be affected.

Update: Target confirmed the attack but its scale was much larger: it took place between 27th November and 15th December and the number of compromised cards reached 40,000,000.
