Kaspersky Labs have published a second part of the report on financial cybercrime focused on malware. Geographically speaking, the most infected country is Russian Federation although that fact may stem from the user-base of the Russian company. In Russia an average user has been attacked almost 15-times during 2013. Interestingly, the number of attacks per user has declined in the U.S. which left the second place to Turkey.

Banking malware remains the majority of malware being spread in the wild. However Bitcoin-related malware (aimed at either bitcoin mining or stealing) reached enormous rise since October 2012. ZeuS/Zbot family remains the most widespread malware type, particularly due to it’s source code being freely available since 2011.
