Washington Post reports that FBI has notified 3000 American companies about some sort of cyber attacks on their systems. The victims learn about attacks on their networks from external sources, often law enforcement agencies in 70% of cases. That is the opposite way from ordinary crimes that are usually reported by the victim. Former FBI employee Steven Chabinsky claims that as regards to attackers, the attacks on intellectual property are usually perpetrated by the Chinese with Russia on distant second place. However, these two countries comprise for two-thirds of attacks on intellectual property of American companies.
