Turkish citizens no longer have access to Twitter following the decision of the court. The block has been allegedly imposed because Twitter failed to comply with order to remove illegal content. This step however comes shortly after the Prime Minister of Turkey threatened to „wipe out“ Twitter that has been used to organize demonstrations and publish information about corruption of governmental officials. Initially, Twitter was only blocked by Turkish telecoms’ DNS servers allowing users to use alternative DNS resolvers such as Google’s on IPs 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. That resulted in blocking both the IP of Twitter and Google DNS servers.
