Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (ROSKOMNAZDOR) has announced that several news sites were added to the list of webpages blocked in Russia. The list now includes the site of Gari Kasparov www.kasparov.ru, news site Daily Journal ej.ru and Grani.ru. Although not mentioned by ROSKOMNAZDOR, the webpage of popular news site Echo of Moscow www.echo.msk.ru is reportedly also inaccessible. The above mentioned sites were blocked for incitating of illegal activity and public actions. The blog of famous opposition leader Alexei Navalny navalny.livejournal.com has been also blocked due to his alleged violation of terms of house arrest by accessing the internet.
As a response to this wave of censorship several governmental servers were attacked by the means of DDoS. Namely the webpage of the Russian president www.kremlin.ru and the webpage of the Central Bank of Russian Federation www.cbr.ru. Attacked was also news website www.Lenta.ru following the ouster of it’s editor-in-chief  Galina Timchenko and her replacement by a pro-kremlin journalist.
