AOL, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Apple, Google, Yahoo and Microsoft have sent an open letter to the U.S. Governemnt demanding reform of the surveillance system. The companies ask to limit authority of the government to request user data, more transparency in such requests and introduction of sound measures to assure accountability and supervision. The news came as new documents emerged, proving that U.K. and U.S. intelligence authorities (NSA and GCHQ) have infiltrated online gaming and virtual worlds and shortly after FBI has admitted use of malware for surveillance of suspects.
