Researchers from Stanford University and Israeli company Rafael have proven that the gyroscope in smartphones may be used to eavesdrop on users. They are sensitive enough to intercept sound waves and act as a microphone. The attacker may use the fact that unlike microphone or camera, the gyroscope is not considered sensitive from security point of view and applications do not require special permissions to access it.
